Last weekend saw the 26th Torre del Mar Triathlon aka The Costa del Sol Triathlon. There were three races on the day, Sprint Distance, Olympic Distance and Half Distance. Triathletes travelled from all over Spain to Compete, in fact we rented two of our Giant Aero Road Bikes to Spanish brothers Luis & German who travelled down from Burgos in Northern Spain to take part. On the day just over 500 triathletes competed over the three distances in the well organised event.
The Half Distance race started at 8.30am, The Olympic Distance race at 9.00am and the Sprint Distance race at 11.00am, because of the staggered start times there was always something going on for the 1000+ spectators that lined the promenade. The sea temperature was a cool 16 degrees with a decent swell, but thank fully no waves. The bike leg was along the coastal road towards Benajarafe, after 8K the triathletes turned off the coast road and climbed 1K onto the steep road towards the village of Cajiz. When they arrived at the top of the hill they made a 90 degree turn, back down the hill then rejoined the coast road for another 200 metres until they hit a roundabout. From here it was a straight ever so slight downhill ride back towards Torre del Mar

The run section of the race was along the promenade. The promenade in Torre del Mar is one of the best East of Malaga, and the pefect place for friends, family and spectators to shout encouragement and take photos.
After the race we uploaded a number of photos from the day to our Facebook page. These were soon shared and we have been contacted by a number of triathletes that are interested in competing in Spain.
