We will collect you from your holiday accommodation and drive to the village of Velez de Benaudalla (70 Metres), which is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Granada Province of Andalucia. After breakfast in the village we will set off on the bikes and gently climb towards the town of Orgiva (450 Metres) . A traditional mountain town known for its bohemian atmosphere! A magnet for for those seeking an alternative lifestyle!
From Orgiva, the climbing begins really begins! We will make our way to the village of Cáñar, it’s only 10 kilometres from Orgiva however it is just over 1000 metres above sea level, so we will be climbing 550 metres in just a few kilometres. At the entrance to the village, there is an ideal spot to take photos of the stunning valley with impressive views to the coast.
From Cáñar we set off towards the famous Andalucian town of Trevelez (1476 Metres), a town well-known for its mouth-watering air dried cured ham and is one of the highest villages in Spain! Although it is only 37 Kilometres away the roads have lots of steep climbs and fast descents. Along the way there are a number of stops we can take to stock up on snacks and drinks. In Trevelez we will have a traditional Spanish lunch (included in the price) and a chance to sample the local jamon (ham).
On leaving Trevelez there is one small climb, and then we start the huge descent straight through the middle of the valley back towards Velez de Benaudalla.
