CYCLE ROUTE 1- COMPETA -COAST – CANILLAS DE ACEITUNO – COMPETA

Step 1: From the village of Competa cycle downhill on the A-7207 mountain road towards Torrox village.

Step 2: When you arrive at the first roundabout Turn Right, this will take you past the Torrox football pitch heading towards the coast. After 2k you will find two more roundabouts, go straight over both of them heading towards Torrox Costa. After 1k you go straight over one more roundabout (Lidl supermarket is on your right) before you arrive on the coastal road.

Step 3: At the final roundabout turn right, you are now cycling a long the coast road. Continue cycling through the coastal villages of Torrox Costa, El Morche and Algarobbo Costa towards Caleta de Velez.

Step 4: When you arrive in Caleta de Velez you will see a roundabout with a boat in the middle, turn right here (past Aldi) then after 200 metres take the next left.

Step 5: Continue to Cycle straight on this road towards Velez Malaga. You will past a golf course and also go underneath the motorway bridge
(this section of the cycle ride is approximately 4kms)

Step 6: When you arrive in Velez Malaga you will go straight over a very small roundabout and then gently climb up to a much bigger roundabout 200 metres away. Take the last exit right and head downhill to the next roundabout (this one has traffic lights) Go straight over

Step 7: At the next roundabout take the 1st exit to the right. This road will take you through Velez Malaga. Keep straight, go over all roundabouts. This road runs straight through the centre of Velez Malaga.

Step 8: When you are at the end of the road you will arrive in the fruit packing warehouse area. Continue forward. When you get to the mini roundabout take a right turn and then after one hundred metres you will arrive at another small roundabout take a left turn. You are now cycling on the old road between Velez Malaga and Zafarraya (Granada).

Step 9: Continue cycling along this quiet road for 15k. You will see the sign for Canillas de Aceituno on the right. Turn right and start climbing up-to Canillas. This is an extremely steep hill however it is only 7k long.

Step: 10 When you arrive in Canillas de Aceituno you have two options. Take the first exit at the roundabout to continue on towards Sedella and Salares or take the second exit to go into the village for a coffee and cake stop!

Step 11: Continue cycling towards Salares and Sedella on the MA-126. There is only this road all the way to the village of Archez.

Step 12: When you arrive at Archez the road comes to an end at a t-juntion. Turn left then cross the bridge then follow the road as it curves around to the right. You are now cycling back to competa.

Step: 13 After 3k you will arrive at another t-junction, Turn Left this road will take you back to the start of the route
